Oilfield Workers Sharing Christ Around the World

47th MOST REFERENCED VERSE ON THE INTERNET*

By Mike Chaffin

For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

In this age of instant contact via cell phone, text messaging, and push notifications, when
someone calls and we don’t answer it is either because we are too busy, don’t want to talk to the person
calling, or because we don’t ever want to hear from him or her.

Paul was undoubtedly thinking about Isaiah 65:12 when he penned this verse.

Therefore I will number you for the sword, and you shall all bow down to
the slaughter; Because, when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did
not hear, but did evil before My eyes, and chose that in which I do not delight.”
          Isaiah 65:12

Before Christ we are all lost sinners doing evil. Even though some lost people
may seem to be doing good Jesus tells us that there is no one good except God. As
lost people we cannot save ourselves.

However, Jesus is standing at the door knocking, waiting for us to call on His
name, for there is no other name in which we might be saved. Jesus is the way, the
truth, and the life, and none come to the Father except through Him.

Jesus answers when we call on Him. Call on Him today, you won’t get a busy
signal and you won’t get ignored. Jesus loves you, Jesus saves.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am a sinner and I need you to save me. I accept you as my
Lord and Savior. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse and renew me. Come into my
heart and fill me with your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

* There is a website that conducted a search for Bible verses. They compiled a list of the verses in order of the
magnitude of hits they got in their search. Some of these verses probably qualify as ‘people’s favorites’, while others
might be on the list because they are some of the most important and most teachable words of God.
