(The Poem)

Note: The devotional of the same name is available in the articles section. The event that spurred this writing was when Mike Chaffin was working in the desert of Kazakhstan, just off the Caspian Sea coast.
I stood in the desert…with air bleak, and thin,
as if nothing lived there or would, ever again.
But winter was waning, slight warmth did begin,
dark clouds were building, (new days coming in?)
It rained for two days, drenching dry sandy soil,
small rivers crossed hardpan, cleared out winter’s spoil.
The sun, peeked through sky, the very next day,
burning holes through clouds, till it chased them away.
Then cacti bloomed, trees donned new leaves,
and even new flowers were seen,
In 24 hours, Small clumps of sage, turned from brown into green!
This rapid re-birth I had seen,
brought to mind, Ephesians 5:14,
“Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”
Yes, the light of Christ’s love burns through darkness, that clouds a sinner’s life.
Like the desert awakened by spring-falling rain,
giving our souls to JESUS, brings new-life again!,
The light of Christ’s love, erupts there within
and forgiveness washes out sleep, death and sin.
God’s born-again child finds eternal life, and strength and renewal within!
Like storms that bring springtime to desert, then peace and tranquility,
Accepting Jesus as your Savior, brings new-life, delivered and free;
It’s a wonderful cleansing experience, (like desert to mountain top),
Or like going from death to new-life, and its benefits never stop!
So now that you’ve heard this story, in poetic analogy,
Would you like to make Jesus your Savior? (let Him light up your life and be free?)
Just pray; “LORD, I’M A SINNER, I NEED YOU, YOU DIED ON THE CROSS FOR ME;
PLEASE, TAKE CONTROL OF MY LIFE AND FROM MY SINS SET ME FREE!
I GIVE CONTROL OF MY LIFE TO YOU, MAKE ME A NEW CREATION’
I ACCEPT YOU AS SAVIOUR AND LORD OF MY LIFE, WITH HUMBLE APPRECIATION!” AMEN!
