DEVOTION – THE BASIC FUNDAMENTALS OF LIFE

Everyone in the world is a unique person who must live their own lives and make choices that affect their future. Even though there are billions of people on Earth living in a multitude of different cultures, there are still some things fundamental to everyone’s life. A person who tries to live without them will wind up empty and lost. These are the basic fundamentals of LIFE:

· Love. In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus summed up the Ten Commandments with two; Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Without love being foremost we are utterly lost.

· Intimacy. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus tells us that some will come to the judgment seat thinking they did His will, but Jesus will tell them He never knew them. We need intimacy with our Maker and Savior. Jesus wants us to know Him. We also need an intimate friend to confide in and share life’s problems.

· Friends. What else could be the next fundamental? It’s important in life to not go it alone. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17. “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12. We must have friends to help us along, pushing or pulling us to the next level.

· Ego. Everyone has one, even the most humble of persons. How we treat our ego is of utmost importance. It determines how we will treat others and ourselves. Our reaction to the slightest insult can build our character or ruin our day. It depends on our ego’s reaction. Pride goes before a fall but God loves a humble and contrite heart. As in the word LIFE, when the ‘E’go’s silent, life is a whole lot better.
