GOD’S GIFTS ARE TIMELY

Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Matthew 10:29-30

Following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s, my wife’s mother went on to join her husband who had preceded her to Heaven. After the funeral, the family, around twenty of us, decided to stop at their parents’ favorite restaurant for a late lunch. It is a great barbecue restaurant in Pampa, Texas. The server gave us the back room where she set up a long table seating us all. We visited for a while, ordered, and visited some more, while waiting for the food to be served.

The food arrived and my wife’s brother said someone should say grace. My wife, and I yelled, “Grace,” down to the other end of the table so they would pipe down. Just as everyone quieted down and we bowed our heads, expecting the older brother to offer grace, one of our youngest great nephews, just a little over 3 years old, broke into grace loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear. To hear this come out of the voice of a young child made us all remember that God cares when we hurt. He knows when we are down, and He is near, ready to help us through our toughest times. It was like He once again used a “still small voice” to assuage our collective grief.

Remember, nothing is too small for God to see, nothing too small for God to use.
