THE LAST WORD – DANIEL

By Mike Chaffin

“But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.” Daniel 12:13

The last words here are to Daniel, given at the end of a message delivered by an Angel of God.  The message takes up the last three chapters of Daniel and spell out Israel’s, and the world’s, future end.  The words Daniel hear are words all who have accepted Jesus as savior should hear.

God’s message to Daniel and all believers is the same.  If you die before Jesus returns, your body will rest in the grave while your soul abides in paradise with Jesus.  At the end of days our soul will be reunited with our bodies, gloriously resurrected, changed, and perfect.

These last words are much nicer to hear than the last words we read in Isaiah.  Those last words were for those who aren’t believers. Their bodies will be tormented forever in eternity.  The Bible teaches God doesn’t force himself on us, he has given us a choice.  We can choose life, or we can choose death.

It seems like such an easy choice.  If I choose God, I choose life, peace, joy, light, righteousness, and holiness.  I choose a relationship with the creator God who fills me with His Holy Spirit to give me wisdom, knowledge, and discernment.  What’s not to like?

But Jesus warned that many will choose another road, they will choose to reject God, or worse, fool themselves into thinking they can be good enough to get into heaven, never knowing Jesus as savior.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

Don’t make the wrong choice in life.  Make the choice to choose life.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I ask for forgiveness of my sins.  I accept you as Lord and Savior of my life.  I ask you to cleanse me and fill me with a new heart.  Fill me with the life you have freely offered.  In Jesus name, amen.
