DEVOTION OF THE MONTH – AUGUST 2012

ANY DAY NOW

“The storm began Thursday when the sun unleashed a massive flare that hurled a cloud of highly charged particles racing toward Earth at three million miles per hour. It was the sixth time this year that such a powerful solar outburst has occurred,…” Houston Chronicle, July 15th, 2012.

December 21, 2012 marks the end of the Mayan Calendar and many say it marks the end of the world. We don’t hear as much cataclysmic talk about this date as we did with Y2K. When you recall all you heard about what could happen if we had a computer glitch over a date format you would think the doomsayers would be giving this rumor the same air time. The fact is most people don’t expect anything to happen on December 21st. But let me give you a scenario of what is about to happen.

There is a terrible drought throughout the farm belt in the United States. Poor governmental policy of taking food and making it into non-economic ethanol exacerbates the problem of not having enough food to feed livestock, people and to ship to other parts of the world. Famine begins. Farms, forests, and prairies are tinderbox dry. As we enter December, the earth will be tilted toward the sun in the southern hemisphere. The drought in the southern hemisphere will be just as severe as they enter their growing season. Record temperatures, being recorded nearly every week in the northern hemisphere now will occur in December in the southern hemisphere. Solar flares will continue to occur as the year progresses and they will get continually stronger. On December 21st, 2012 a solar flare of such magnitude that has not yet been seen will hit the earth. Since South America, India, Africa and much of China is in the southern hemisphere, massive wide fires will erupt causing widespread damage to any crops left, forests will burn in the matter of days and whole towns will be swallowed up in the flames. The electromagnetic wave that is propagated by the solar flare will cut out communications, television and radio. GPS guidance systems will be rendered useless. Planes will be grounded, and communications will be greatly hindered.

As the wildfires grow across the southern hemisphere, most of China’s economy will be destabilized, Arab terrorists and Russia will take advantage of the turmoil and launch a limited nuclear attack on the United States and China. Houston, Washington, Los Angeles and New York will be disintegrated in the matter of seconds. Hong Kong, Beijing and China’s manufacturing centers will be wiped off the map. Roughly one fourth of mankind will be killed by hunger, war and disease (see Revelations 6:8) in the matter of only a few days.

They will attempt an attack on Israel, but that attack will be met with quick retaliation and Russia and all other of Israel’s enemies will be eliminated. More dominoes begin to fall into place, but you get the picture. Life on Earth as we know it has ended for everyone. Judgment day has come and you are weighed in the balance. Are you ready?

Or perhaps you won’t have to worry about December 21st. Jessica Ghawi wrote, just days after she was nearly gunned down in a mall in Toronto, “I was reminded that we don’t know when or where our time on Earth will end.” Shortly after she wrote these words she was gunned down in a movie theater in Aurora Colorado while watching a movie, one of twelve who died that night. Are you ready?

Jesus said in Mathew 24:42-44, 42″Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Maybe the end will play out as I depicted, or maybe not. Perhaps you will never know. He could come for you in the next few minutes. Are you ready?

I urge you to make your decision to accept Jesus Christ as your savior today, right now. This very second. Don’t wait; you don’t know if you have another breath. “For God so loved the World, that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16. To be saved from the wrath of God and inherit eternal life in Heaven you must acknowledge you are a sinner and you must repent of your sins. Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, believe He is the Son of God who paid the price for your sins and ask Him to be Lord of your life and live inside you. Then serve him until you’re face to face with Him in Heaven. Serve Him by loving others, reading your Bible and learning what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Serve Him by putting Jesus first in your life, everyone else second and live a selfless life. It really is better than it sounds. It is joy unspeakable.
